and currently going through them to pick out the good/bad. I'll be using Lightroom 2.0 and Photoshop CS4 for editing.

Though I've messed around with this shot, what you see has not been edited.

Part of me thinks it's a good shot, and part of me thinks there's a lot that could be done to make it really look good.

Any suggestions on how to make this shot look its best?

Thank you.

You're going to have to crop pretty tight in order to get rid of the tog on the left and the back of the bald guy's head on the right.

Canon 5D MkII gripped, Canon 7D gripped, Canon 40D gripped, Canon XTI (IR) gripped, Canon 17-55 2.8 IS, Canon 60 Macro 2.8, Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS , Canon 24-105 4.0, Tokina 11-16 2.8, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sekonic L-358, Canon Speedlite 580-EX II, (2)430-EX, Pocket Wizards, lots of other stuff that seems to keep growing...

Thanks, bbdvm.

Yes, it will be a tight crop, but other than that, is it too dark/bright, how's the skin tone?

It's a nice shot... I'm looking for more pop or isolation. But really... it's a nice shot.

For me I would bring some more skin tone in the guys face. maybe as simple as decreasing the luminance on his face.

If you turn on image editing you may get a few people who want to take a shot at post processing it.

I would crop tight and do a B/W conversion.

I'd crop a smidgen from the left and a smidgen from the bottom (just to eliminate the cuff). I think the fore:background ratio is large enough to mute the background clutter sufficiently. Looks pretty good to me.

its a good shot technically, but the problem for me is that he looks half blinking from the flash.
