I like the colours pity about the wire.

If that was handheld you have very steady hands

Welcome to the forum it is a very good place to learn a lot

It was hand held (edit: I believe I rested the lense on the window). I passed the deer on the road, backed up and rolled the window down to get the shot before she ran off. Yeah the fence was kinda unavoidable. The deer are spooky since deer season started. This forum is awesome. Thanks for your critique!

Welcome to POTN:D

Take your time, keep reading and learning, have fun.

Sometimes you have to take what you are able to, this could be cropped so that it eliminates all the fence and brings the deer closer( but it will most likely be soft as the distance was large)

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

Welcome to the world of photography and the forum!

To understand what can be improved it is important to understand what the original intention is. It also helps to understand how this image will be presented to the public: documentary, art statement, etc. I recommend taking a photography class and researching online through a site like Flickr to gain a reference to where you want to go with your photography. There are lots of great scenics online and tutorials and of course this forum is nothing short of a gold mine of information.

Have fun with your new sport.

I agree.

Why did you shoot this at 100 when your speed was 1/20? It came out fine, but next time drop that ISO, so you don't have to "get lucky."

Very nice shot at any rate, but it definitely needs more contrast.

Try cropping just below the top of the first treeline and to the left of the fence post, then a bit off the left side for balance.

Thank you for the critique, and excuse my newbie question, but when you say "drop the iso" does that mean go up to 200? 100 is the smallest number, right above "auto". I set it at 100 being that the sun was so bright. This is going to be a long learning curve:shock:. Going to go find iso settings in the manual right now! Guess I mis-understood them when I read it the first time.
