whats the difference between these two? Is the 190prob as solid as 190xprob ?

The OP doesn't have anything near that. Unless you start getting into the big superteles youll be fine with the 190s. However, the 055s support a 400 2.8 quite well.

As I upgraded camera bodies and especially lenses, I didn't want to have to keep upgrading my support, and I haven't regretted it. Tony
