This Blackbird, aka Garfield showed up a couple of days ago. He's a loner, and moves very slow, must have eaten a couple of pounds of seed someplace before showing up here. Sometimes he just sits for 10 minutes and looks around. I can walk within just 5 feet of him and he doesn't mind. Another one came by later, and he was very slim and active. Garfield will just have to be taken in the car when it's time to go South...heh..heh.

He looks perturbed, but content Steve... great light on the feathers... I take it your monsoon is over? I checked the weather maps and I was wondering if you were near this week's tornado activity?
Hope you have a siege of warm, sunny weather at the canyon....

You might have to FedEx him south Steve! Or maybe that flat rate shipping offered by the USPS. "If it fits, it ships."
Of course this boy may not fit.

Excellent shot!!

Thanks Gaurav, akhan, db, Levina, Sharon, Phil, and Brad. He was out there again this morning just sitting and eating and more sitting. A very mellow fat bird. db, the bad weather was about 60 miles south of here, and the sun is out again. Having beautiful fall weather now, very cool at night. Soon the oak leaves will be turning out at the waterhole. I will try to get out there next week. :D

Nice shot. Are there cats in your neighborhood? Wonder if he would be able to escape them.

At some point that has to become a disability considering hollow bones and all. Nice capture and great name for the bird Steve.

Thanks, haven't seen any cats lately, the park service has put out traps and caught quite a few over the last year. Although hawks are passing through and I wonder if Garfield will make it!
