my new sandisk SD HC card won't fit in the SD slot! I've never used this slot and finally got a card for backing up the CF card.
Anyone heard of this situation?
Chris

It's not that easy that it's upside down?

Hmm, SD slots are pretty cut and dried...take a breath, examine things, and make sure you're putting it in the right direction?

I guess another question is are you sure it is a standard SD? There is also micro and mini SDHC cards

But they would rather drop in then refuse to go in.

They won't go in backwards either, will they?

True, but he just said they don't fit. He didn't say which way. You are probably right, but just throwing out ideas.

No, they have keyed edges like a CF card and one side is notched with an angle.

Oh, so you mean by saying "will not fit" it could be either too small a card or too large a card? When I hear "will not fit" I think of something which doesn't fit in, i.e. in this case the card is bigger than the slot, or at least some keyed edge or so prevents entry.

But if I would try to put in a micro SD card, which would then literally fall into the card slot, that would be expressed the same way?

This is of course off topic, but I'm asking just because I'm trying to learn English.

Your English is very good. In fact I had no idea you were not a native speaker from reading this and previous posts of yours.

Normally, I think your interpretation of "will not fit" is correct and the normal usage. By pure definition, fit just means it is the proper size, shape, design, etc. So the opposite, "not fit" means it is not the proper size, shape, etc. If I bought too large pants, I could certainly button them, but they would fall down, so I would say they did not fit me.
