Hmmmm...

Well, you know that we're not there... An SDHC card is supposed to fit, and so the issue is either the slot, the card, or operator error....

Make sure that you are trying to put it in with the notch on the correct side... There is a little picture of a correctly oriented card beside the slot.

Also, look inside the slot and make sure there isn't anything else already in the hole.........:D

.... Got some cameras; got some glass ..... I just need one more of each.....

Sorry for not keeping up with this, we just got back from a 10 hour wedding gig...

Anyway, what I think is this: two years ago when the camera was new, I remember trying to use a Sony card in the SD slot (it was way too small). So, at the time, I'm thinking I may have tripped the little locking device in there and so today it thinks there is a card inside. So, now, I've pushed so hard against this lock thingy to get the correct card in, that no doubt I've trashed it. I'm thinking Canon service at this point.

What do you guys think? Possible yes?

Further background: the camera has never had a SD card in this slot.
Chris

anything's possible...

it might be worth posting as good a photo of it as you can get of the offending area.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

Please post pics! It should fit in fine. I don't know what locking thing you're talking about, it is spring loaded press in, press out but there is no locking thing. I can post pictures from my Mark II's if you like.

My slot has a tiny metal tab sticking out right next to the "2".
I don't have a macro but maybe I can get a pic with the 24-70 to post.
And sure there's a locking thing otherwise it would fall out.

A locking thing? It is press in to pop out, press in to pop in, that's how SD cards work. What happens if you press in whatever is in there now? Did it come with a dummy card or something? You can you tried to ram a card in anyways? Doesn't sound good but hopefully you can just press down on what is in there and it will pop out.
