Considering that the keychain biners are rated from 100-200 lbs yes. Although I'd probably just use one of my full strength ones anyways... :P

But my thoughts wasn't so much the keychain ones orginally it's just that those nanos are on the expensive side of non locking biners. Where as something like a oval wire (it "ending" the line of multicolor wire gates) are a couple bucks cheaper and would manage the straps better...but that is the climber in me nit picking :P

This made me drool more than most things in this thread, no offense to anyone else. I love that BD harness (that is the quick buckle, right?) and those QD's.

I've also got to say, I've started falling in love with wire-gate 'biners because of the smaller amount of weight when accessing the gate.

Can't say much for the cams/protection...haven't done any trad climbing. :D

That's why I prefer the utility loop to the adapt-its.

The adapt-its I feel will wear out from being bent into weird angles to make them fit.

They just have to be softened to fit through the lug. No bending after that.

Yes but IMO once they look like this...I don't feel they will last very long.
and the weight of the camera bouncing on the strap connected to the adapt-it makes me nervous it will stress fracture the rubber/plastic/whatever it's made of and break.

The Optech Utility Loop is a much more stress resistant method of quick release connection IMO.

The before and after. With the 5D2 and an RRS L bracket, the vertical piece is blocked by the butt end of the Adapt-It when the piece is inserted from the bottom up. It worked by putting it in from the top down,, then bending it 180 degrees. I put the right sided one in the same way as it was better for my handstrap. It also was impossible to get it in the other way, even with heating.

This is a great idea, but I don't know whether that 180 degree bend will crack the Adapt-It after a while. I have an email into OpTech.

I understand your concern. However, I called OpTech's tech department, as I wanted to bend the left one 180 degrees so it would fit under the L bracket. They said that was no problem, that they had torture tested these devices, and that the material was meant to tolerate all sorts of bending and twisting without failure, even at extremes of hot and cold.

The loops will work fine, I've used them, but I wanted a theft-proof connection, one that couldn't be cut with a knife or box-cutter.

Not quite camera gear oriented but as far as "multi-purpose" goes, this thing is a beast.

Haha, no. This is supposed to be for skiing/snowboarding but also works great for carrying around photography gear too.

I was going to mention that I'm pretty sure North Face does not make "flak jackets" :D

Not really. Definitely a smidge heavier than your normal fleece-type vest but it's nothing too bad. It feels a bit stiffer though since there is padding in the shoulders as well as on the back. Sorta feels like you're putting on a S.W.A.T vest or something. Also, not very warm either since it's a vest and the sides have mesh webbing. Definitely need to layer up with this one.
