Today's accessory: have a Pelican? These are pretty much indestructable locks for it. Read this thread. Extra long shackles, case hardened steel.

They saved my bacon. Sold through Tamperseal. (external link) About $13 each. Also TSA approved.

I agree, these are pretty great. On my last few trips I just put some master locks that I had, and they were ok (didn't get cut off), because something has happened to all my TSA approved locks, except for one, which I am thinking is a Tamerseal one. Some of the cheap TSA locks I've had (or should I say most of them in general) are so cheap, that anyone with a little strength can just twist them hard enough to pull them open, and the baggage handler guys definitely have enough strength.

I've always thought lenspens were cool. Can you imagine putting anything else that takes up no space on an expensive piece of glass and rubbing it around? And it actually does something beneficial for you!

Honest question...What happens to the grime you rub off of one lens when you rub the next lens? Doesn't it get messy, and transfer dirt around after a few uses? I haven't used one of these, so I have no idea.

They don't get messy or transfer dirt around. I honestly have no idea how they work. They just do.

You have a point.

I just picked up a tamperseal lock for my pelican after reading your thread. Thanks for the heads up.

You're welcome. I hoped this kind of notification of useful gadgets would spread the word about the best ones.

I have a 1520 Pelican roll-on, and actually got two of the locks for it, one for each metal-lined grommet. If I had only had one on there, I'm sure the thieves would have been able to lever the case open from the unlocked side.

Well, I have to admit, my coolest accessory is this:

http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1286717039&sr=1-1 (external link)

Canon should make them, but I have a few Sigma ones now and my friend, Mel, gave me 3! I use these cloths for cleaning my glasses all the time, but use them for lens or LCD cleaning and you're good to go. They are very small, so you can put one in every bag you use. But the hook is terrible. Always falls off.

maybe i have OCD... i keep little swatches of microfiber fabrics in mini ziploc bags...
i tend to not re-use them much until i wash them.

but thanks Suzi, that is quite nifty for on-the-go situations...

I do that too with the same desire of keeping what touches my lenses clean.

Hmm, I am surprised to see the enthusiasm for the microfiber cloths for cleaning LENSES. I use one for my LCD and what not, but only single use lens papers touch my lenses! I wouldn't want to risk it... I guess it depends on just how clean of an environment you are in, but I am constantly out in nature with my gear, and microfiber cloths would not go very far from my point of view.

I keep some of these handy too depending on the enviroment I am in I will choose what to use. The microfiber cloths get more use really there are 10 points to clean with. 4 corners 1 center x 2. :)

That's really cool! But I like the little cloth ones as they really are flat when you have it in a pocket, for instance. The Sigma cloth is very tiny.

Someone asked if they get dirty while you have it in a bag. The answer is not really because the cloth if rolled/folded into the sleeve and stays clean. The only thing is, if you use the glass cleaner solution for tough spots, you have to dry out the cloth before storing it again.

QUOTED IMAGE

I never thought of that. I always thought the scratches on the long lenses were kind of battle scars. Does it match the Canon white?
