For use with my 50D.

Right now, the 'widest' lens that I have available is a Canon EF 28-105 (left over from 35mm days).

I would like to add a lens with a bit wider capability, and need some recommendations.

I was not impressed with the Canon 18-55 'Kit Lens' - owned one of those for a short period of time, traded it for some other gear.

I'm looking for something that is decent quality, a bit wider than 28, good aperture range, not into the 'fish-eye' FL ... prefer Canon or Sigma, but open to other brands.

G'Jim c):{- ... 2x 50D (Both Gripped), 2x 7D (Both Gripped), 2x 5D Mk II (One gripped), 1x 60D, assorted glass (10-800mm), sundry accoutrements.
The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

Which 18-55 have you tried? The IS version seems to be better than the non-IS, and the F2.8 version is even better.

What about primes?

Canon EOS 1000D (Rebel XS) - Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS - Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II (Nifty Fifty) - Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4.0-5.6 IS

This is what I've heard. Never owned it, but would if I was to only have a crop body.

Would you like to buy a vowel?
Go ahead, spin the wheel.

I'm accross the canal just south of Ballard, the town Seattle usurped in 1907.
