long time ago, wifey approved a 500L down the road... hope she lives up to it...

my longest lens at the moment are the 1-4L and 400 5.6L... and i love birding...

i'm in the market to get a gimbal... now i'd love a solution that can handle up to the 500L lens but it seems that is a year or maybe more down the road...

the candidates are:

Jobu BWG Jr3 @ $349
weighing in at 1lb 7oz (wow!) max load of 12lbs, recommended 10lbs (7D +500L is about 11~12lbs)

Jobu BWG Hv Duty Mk2 @ $499
weighing in at 2lb 11oz max load of 25 lbs

then there's the one i've not heard of much...

Induro GHB2 @ $488
weighing in at 3.2lbs, max load... "up to 800mm"

and finally, there's the mutha of all gimbals...

Wimberly MkII @ $594
weighing in at 3.15lbs, max load... hmm... not specified...

so, going cheap, the Jobu Jr3, i can buy now... and i do hear the 500mm Mk2 is going to be lighter... at what cost?... or shall i save more and just get the wimberly II?

thoughts and opinions much appreciated...

and any/all user experiences with the Jobu or the Induro would be greatly appreciated...

thanks in advance...

You could look the Manfrotto 393 (unless you already have), a different shape to the gimbals but cheaper, approx £100 in UK, not sure how much in dollars though.
Just a thought.
