ABR800 + PLM, grinding off the lip on reflector?

Notice the very end lip on the reflector attached to the ABR800. If I ground off the end lip on the reflector wouldn't that help having a wider angle to hit all of the PLM? I heard someone mention the reflector on the ABR800 hindering the effectiveness on the PLM. If it helps then I'll buy an extra reflector to use with the PLM. The ABR800 is the only strobe I have that is why i'm asking about getting the most effectiveness out of the PLM in conjunction with the ABR800.

or you could just put the light further away from the PLM.

I'm confused... The reflector can be removed.
It has a sub-reflector built in, but I don't see that effecting using the AB 800 with the PLM much.
The larger flash tubes could even be beneficial.
