Understanding exposure by Bryan Peterson made me a better photographer. Can you guys recommend a book dedicated to properly compose for wedding/group/portrait shots?

There are several-check your local photo retailer. Honestly, though, the best thing to do is attend a class. You will learn alot more and be able to ask questions and learn from others. Again, your local photo retailer can help you find a class.

I'm not sure about composing but these books (really great book esp. Captured) has helped me understand photography and the way light works (and gears to properly utilize it)

"wedding/group/portrait shots?"

Probably want flash books too.

The way to go is just to learn about composition as a whole, understanding it at the core level. Then you will have the components to construct your own compositions and style. This will work for you better than just learning a few tips for a couple types of shots. That is the difference between memorization and understanding.

The Photographers Eye
Learning to See Creatively
"The Camera" and "The Negative" were both great even though it only talks film
Hot Shoe Diaries (working with flash, for the situations you mentioned)
Light: Science and Magic.....Great for lighting in general....the principles of it.

Save your money. Photoinf.com has tons of articles about composition for free. Just about everything you would find in a book.

Personally I think there is nothing better than looking at photographs, feeling why it looks right and going out there with the camera an practicing. Even if it's practicing in the same spot over and over. Walk around the subject and shoot. Rule of thirds is a good start, then you can just break all the rules and decide what you like and go with that..
