580 EXII failure---preflash only.

About a month ago I bought 2 580 EXII flash units. I have been using them on a pocketwizard FlexTT5. The first flash failed after about 10 flashes. I sent it back for repair.

Today the second unit did the same thing.

In both cases the flash fires the preflash only after the failure.

Any idea what is going on????

The pocket wizards killed your flashes. It is a known issues with the IGBT getting burn out from excess ozone gas created by the flash tube.

All I can say is that you hit the unlucky with them, some people have no issues and others like yourself, are nothing but trouble.
