You cannot creat information that is not in the picture to begin with...jpeg to raw??? Only the other way around...The 20D does have defective Raw firmware however..at least untill the latest release last month.

I disagree, Yes this is possible as i have a G6. The camera takes the shot but does not apply any compression or white balance settings if the * button is pressed immediately after the shot during preview on lcd screen. If it is pressed during this process, the image is saved as raw. If not the camera then applies its normal JPG setting algorithms.

The camera does not take a picture then save to jpg and then from this jpg convert to raw.... as is assumed or depicted by previous posts.

I still find shooting raw only the better way to go(although i dont batch process) as Tim puts it, just batch process raws later.

Tim, any links to a batch processer for pscs2?

Bridge is a batch processor. Select your RAW images, right click, open in camera raw, select all in the top left, save as in the bottom right.

Alternatively, use RSE (Raw Shooter Essentials) - find the right settings for one image, then select which settings you want to copy to other images, one click later, and your machine will chug away converting all of them.
