hi guys i know this question have been asked several times, im sorry about that but im sort of a fix. i really like the 24-105 f4 L but dont have the budget, what other lens that are comparable to its IQ, my options are 17-50 tamron, sigma 24-70 ex or 17-70 os hsm? any other suggestions? primary used is walk around lens and portraits. or will i have the same IQ with the kit lens 28-135 is? thanks oh also 17-55 is by canon is also a little bit out of my reach. thanks and sorry for the trouble again.

Gear list: 7d, 50d, xti, EOS 66 film, Canon FTB,sigma 18-35 1.8 art len, EF 24-105L, 70-200f4. Manfrotto 190xpro, sirui g20x. BR metro.

What's your exact price point? And what camera will this be for? My initial thought goes to the canon 15-85 but it depends on what you are willing to spend. the 85 doesn't have a constant aperture like the 24-105 but it is about perfect for walk around. As far as portraits go, you can't beat a prime lens in my opinion... but as long as the background is far enough away from the subject you can get bokeh out of basically any lens.

Canon 40d; 18-55 cheap and it works, 50 f/1.8 ii.

Thanks I have a 50d and a t2i with a 28-135mm, 50mm 1.8, 55-250mm and an 18-55 is. I'm looking for a walk around that has a good iq even in low light. The t2i may be my primary soon if I'm able to sell my 50d.

your 18-55 IS is a perfect walkaround lens, but if you need 2.8, then the tamron 17-50 non-vc 2.8 is what you wnat, $400

thank you, i had the old 18-55mm and in my experience the iq was not really that good in indoor photo. i assumed that the IS version would be the same so not yet used the IS, my bad ill give it a try today, Im really thinking of getting a prime for a walk around if there is one in my budget. I recently 2 of my lenses to adorama for trade. initialy for a 24-105is mm but still too expensive so im left with 2 choices athe sigma 24-70 ex or tamron 17-50 2.8 or just get a 70-200mm f4.

If you're looking to sell your 50d. You're options open up quite a bit, seeing as you could use that money towards glass. If you want low light the best walk around lens for low light is the 17-55 is usm f2.8. It's also around 1000 dollars. But you could probably sell your 50d for close to that if it is well maintained. It all depends on what you want. but for low light and good iq you can take almost any prime the tamron 17-50 2.8 non-vc or the canon 17-55 2.8.

Look around at the reviews on the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. It's sharp, light enough to be a comfortable walk-around lens and falls well inside your price limit. New they go for around $500.
