I though it would be kinda cool to take pictures of lightning during a thunderstorm. Has anyone tried this before? Do you have any such pics? What setting would you use?

I took this up as a hobby a few years ago. With a film camera, be ready to use a LOT of film. With digital, not such a big deal. You really have to be in a location with good storms. There are many great web sites dedicated to this effort. Time, practice, patience are very important.

Shutter wide open, roughly 30-60 sec exposure seems to work for me. I have a few good shots, but where I live, there aren't many great storms.

Use the search at the top of the page. There has been this kind of topic in the past with great photos. I'm sure you'll find something.
