Yeah I was leaning towards the 1.4 as it's half the price of the 50MP here in Canada and the 100MP is going to cost me about $1850 CDN. Might as well spend my winter bonus on something.

That will be a perfect trio along with your 35 L. :)

hahaha

You laugh. Before we left for China I came home with an 85L and she was chopping up onions for dinner with our big cleaver style knife. She looked at me, looked at the bag, looked at me all while making sure to brandish the knife in plain sight.

She at least sees photography as a better hobby than the massive gun collection one of my buddies has so I just say "well, I could've bought a Ruger and a Fabarm Tactical Shotgun for what this cost".

I may actually sell the 35L if the Zeiss 35 1.4 proves to be a stellar performer. We'll see. Do Zeiss' have any weather sealing at all? I didn't see any o-rings or anything on the few I've inspected.

That's the downside to the Zeiss. No weather sealing. The 35 f/2 is a stellar performer when it comes to IQ. You'll really see the 3D effect everyone's talking about.

Yeah that sucks a bit as I'm planning to hit a few snow covered mountains this winter to record some footage and we decided this weekend we definitely want to go to Tibet and to base camp either next year or the year after so weather sealing is going to be a big factor there :)

I would then consider buying after your trip. :)

Haha yeah much easier to chop stuff with the cleaver I find as well. She pokes shots at my photography as much as I poke shots at the fact she has piles of purses, shoes and jackets in her closet that are starting to overflow into my closet.

Spies would be interesting. What I would give to wake up on a Monday and not look at broken compilers and build errors for the entire week :p

Knowing me I'll just slap the lens on and bury the camera in the snow. The 7D was a champ for that in China and took a pounding under the rain without so much as a hiccup.

Exactly...sometimes hang-ups are just pre-ceonceptions that vanish when you actually experience a product.
