I noticed this the other day when updating my page. I still upload in low res, as the low and hi res versions looked exactly the same to me when I did a side by side comparison.
you can see the link on my page

they should all look the same on facebook... facebook will still compress your high res image for their site.

however, i did just download your image in high res. all 18x28 inches of it.

Hi, the IQ of their "high res" still sucks. Just compare these:

and

http://www.photoserver.eu/image/velke/246/246573.jpg (external link)

Yes, the resolution of these two pictures is same, but the quality of the facebook version is VERY poor. From 184 kB to 34 kB? Wow, I still hate facebook because of this.

Thanks for the link. This will be SOP from here on in. We see the high res upload button but were not aware of the download part and just put up several wedding shots......crap.

"very poor" No. Maybe your monitor is low resolution. I have to put my eye 6 inches from my 24" HD monitor to see any difference. The facebook HR image is 33 KB in size and your photoserver version is 183 KB in size. So facebook is just compressing the photo. But your example isn't that good because it's 800 pixels on the long side which is marginally bigger than their normal 720 pixels on the long side allowable.
