My Canon Remote Shutter Release Cord has died. Isn't this just a dry contact? I opened it up and nothing seemed wrong with it. Could there be a problem on the camera side? Can't I just put a meter on the cord to check it?

If you have been coiling it up every time you stored it, my guess would be that you overstressed the cable and it broke internally - the same can happen to headphones, laptop power cables etc. 5D MK II AF Satisfaction Poll | Reduced Kit List
