One of my 350D/XT's has started showing these lines on quite a few (but not all) captures. This is a heavy crop with alot of noise from too much sharpness which I did to make the lines show up more. Any ideas what would be the cause folks ?

Stands out most at large apertures, it's not a hair and I don't see anything through the focusing screen either. It's not dirt or any other partical as I have checked this. It's also not the CF card as it's a known good card, I know it's the camera. Just don't know what caused it lol, it's not a problem as it will be fixed. Cheers Wayne

Tried different cards and different brands, still the lines. Maybe it is the lens somehow, it seems to be random though. It's not every capture, I've tried to reproduce every setting. Can't seem to work it out, a real pain when it's seems to be random and only happen every so often. Cheers Wayne

I took a shot at twilight of my dog, and in the shadows (only in the shadows), I got some "banding" not bad, but I did notice it, particularly when I was adjusting in post. Fixable, but a bummer, on an otherwise great shot. dmstraton

Have spoken to camera repair techs and they think it's a write error/card issue maybe or the camera as they can't see how a lens would affect the image in this way. Still trying to find out, I didn't really want to send the camera away to Canon and haven't as yet. Cheers Wayne

I've had 3 350D/XT's and kept 2 so far, but all 3 cameras do this randomly. Not quite sure what to do, it's a pain but it's only every so many captures. I'm told if I send it to Canon it's a min of 6-8 weeks turn-around for me, could be longer as the problem is random and hard to repeat. I don't want to lose a camera for this kind of time frame. Cheers Wayne

Perhaps a strong local magnetic source. I've been at airports where the radar will produce lines like this on video images. This could explain the randomness of the lines perhaps. Oh and Canon techs will always blame the lens especially if it ain't one of theirs !. Steve
