No depth in my images - Need help plz.

I was at a paintball field taking photos of woods, trails, bunkers and none of the photos look like they have any depth. i'm using a rebel XS with a kit lens. The exif data should be attached to the photo's. Do i need a different lens for these types of photos?

They look over exposed with added high contrast/blacks to me. I think another part of the problem is the time of day that you are shooting -- you might want to try earlier or later in the day when there is better light if possible. Also, what mode are you shooting in? I see on is shot in f/22

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? what do you mean by "depth"? Do you mean that you wish to blur backgrounds? If that is the case I suggest reading up on aperture, focal length and depth of field as these were all shot at f/8 and higher.

I was shooting av mode at the wrong time of day, around noon. The aperture is what I wanted so everything is in focus. I wanted the trails to look as if they're going deeper. Not depth of field just a depth between trees

try shooting at F11-16. F22 will give you diffraction. Try not making the trails center in the picture, or something like that. I am no expert though

I think rioni nailed it mate... time of day. The light is too harsh so the contrast of shadow/highlight is too intense to get the "depth" you want. You'll find it much easier in 'the golden hour', or there abouts, I reckon.
