Taking photos for work and my co-worker told me he wanted a new Facebook picture. I told him to sit down and clicked. I seriously hope there's no one out there saying anything bad about the nifty fifty lens! Or my ghetto Rebel XT for that matter

The WB looks a little off to me.

That's because I split toned the photo. Good catch but I'm not changing it :)

Now that makes sense. I was wondering how the background looked cool and his faced looked warm. It's a good photo.

Looks great. Obviously a camera/lens combo up to the task.

It works for me. But I'm drooling over your equipment list. The 5d and 135L combo is what I've been wanting for some time.

Nice shot. The short lighting works well here.

I'm always thinking that upgrading my gear will make me better, but when I see what you can do with an XT and 50 1.8, I realize it's me, not the equipment that needs upgrading. :D

Dusting off his shirt would have been a good place to start for him (or edit out in PP). The pen and paper in pocket is a bit distracting too. Both sort of detract from that confident look he is otherwise projecting.

You know I thought about that. But for a "30 second sit here and look pretty for Facebook picture" I got over it. :p

I'm usually my own worst nit-picker. I even debated cloning out that yellow thing in the BG on the right. But impromptu photos are never perfect (for me at least) and I could spend all day editing a single picture trying to create that "perfect" image. But I wasn't getting paid enough!

Other possible answers include (in levity, of course):

1 - I split-tone faster than I dust.
2 - This is the way he always looks; he wanted it to look natural.
3 - Excuses, excuses.
4 - I'm a complicated guy.

Hey Krazymike what lens are you using on the XT, thats the same camera that I use but my shots don't look as good. Was there some photo editing done to the picture? Forgive me if my question sounds stupid, really new to the industry and would like to become a better photographer. Thanks in advance.
