Been tidying up my photo library and decided to repro some landscapes into B&W conversions. These were taken on our trip to NZ last year.

These were all hand-held. Wish I hadn't left my tripod at home. I'd have loved to be able to do longer exposures to get the water nice and smooth.

I'd really appreciate your comments and critique. Be brutal. I can take it. I love viewing top notch quality landscape photos, and I know what I like to see. But it's harder to take the shot and process your own. Exposure, composition, processing, whatever comes to mind.

Here's the colour versions I had a play with. Just couldn't get them to something I was happy with. The desaturated look seemed to suit the first 2. Not happy with the sky in the 3rd.

I have to agree with Yok. Generally I am a big fan of black and white landscapes but the color in your shots is not only lending itself to creating depth but also character.

Failure is always an option.

I think they're beautiful landscapes! The conversions are nice, but I really think that the color versions do the scene justice. How beautiful :)

I also greatly prefer the color shots, especially the 3rd. I think the sky looks fine in the 3rd shot.

Another vote for the color versions. The B&W seem to need more contrast.

Really? Wow. Thanks for the comments everyone. Must be really off with my radar of what looks better.

I would keep 1 and 2 color, I think the blue sky helps them out a ton. BW on #3 for me since the sky is overcast already. Great shots, I am dying to go to New Zealand!
