Can you tell us more about the behavior you noticed while taking these shots, were they nipping at each other here and is this male, female play or just seal play? A little faster shutter and a touch more light here would have gone a long ways to bring up more details in the shadow areas here.

I'm not a seal expert and don't know if they are male/female.But when I saw them they were playing/jumping/fighti​ng in the water and during the activity I took this photo.
As you don't know were the seals come out of the water, and the time out of water is short and the weather was rather dark, it was difficult to focus and move with the subject. Maybe technically not super but you have the photo.

Hope someone else can help you with the biological questions

No it was in a sea aquarium were they threat seals that were found, wounded etc.
