Not sure if this fits into this forum heading or not, so forgive my error if I am in the wrong place.

Essentially I am looking to get an IR 77mm filter for my 24-70 f2.8L (which would also fit the 70-200L) but I am kinda confused as to which to go for.

Hoya has one standard one as far as I can see - the R72. The B+W however have the 87 (black) as well as the 92 (reddish) filters - which is better? The brochure is really no help - talks about medical/forensic photography as opposed to just landscape/trippy stuff that I want to do. I tried B&H for advice but they weren't sure.

And then it hit me - ask the experts (that's you guys :D ;)).

As always, any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Saqib.

Most people seem to go for the IR72.

Thanks - I know most people like the R72 but is there any particular reason for it? Is it simply better?

My main reason for asking is that the black 93 seems to not need any color adjusting after the shot. But does that fact also make it pointless for using in IR shots?
