Im just wondering if anyone is ordering the tokina 16-28mm for their camera? Even though I am a dedicated prime user, it's always nice to have the uwa zoom in there.

Based from the Nikon review by nfg, I'm sure the canon version is just as good. I hope that it's similar, if not better, than the 11-16mm. I hope that it's not the same as how the tamron 17-50 vc turned out compared to the tamron 17-50mm.

Thoughts? Are you ordering?

I would like to point out your screen name on this one. ;)

But on topic, I wasn't aware that the Tokina 16-28 was out. I'll wait for reviews before deciding, but if it's at least as good as the Canon version, I may be on board.

I just hope Tokina can keep the CA under control on this lens. It was so bad on the 11-16 that it swayed me to buy the Canon 10-22 instead.

And LOL at your sig! I'll be sure to post an OMG I got a Tokie 16-28 thread when (if) I get it. :)

The CA/Flare is the only downfall of Tokina lenses. Hopefully, they've gotten some new coatings. Sharpness/Color/Contrast is always a pleasure with Tokina lenses.

Haha, I just got completely owned on this one! This is proof that my SN fits me very well! I shouldn't have been playing on POTN when I have customers at my desk. My apologies for the false hope, looks like those check minuses I got in elementary school for not paying attention are still playing out.

Is there a definitive street price on this yet? I haven't been following it but I saw the $1400 figure tossed around in several places and at that price I don't see it being competitive with the 16-35.

Pre Orders are going for $849 in the US.
I've not seen any formal reviews with resolution numbers yet.
I'm interested in this lens but I'm definitely waiting for the reviews before I put $850 into a lens.

maybe you're right... i'll do just that then. For 849.99 and a tokina name, i'm expecting the lens to be stupid sharp, have a great color rendition, and have low amount of distortion. It's a great competitor to the Canon 16-35 and it might just eat up canon's business just like the Tokina 11-16mm vs Canon 10-22mm.

With my move to FF it is enticing. Thing is, I'm moving to L's or not but budget is a budget! :D
