Pre Orders are going for $849 in the US.
I've not seen any formal reviews with resolution numbers yet.
I'm interested in this lens but I'm definitely waiting for the reviews before I put $850 into a lens.

I'd want to see some trustworthy reviews first as well. At that price if it's even close to the 16-35 it should be a hot item. Either way I won't be buying one, I just sold a 16-35. I don't need a low light wide angle zoom.

no filters is a deal breaker for some.

That's true! Is it a deal breaker for you? I told myself that I have to overcome using lenses without filters if I ever want to own the 200 f2L.

I mainly shoot waterfalls. NDs help....most of the time a polarizer is sufficient. The lee foundation kit will probably be made to fit the 16-28. (provided it's worth owning(I think it will be))

Yep. I wouldn't want a wide angle lens that doesn't take filters.

I was thinking about this as well - the use of ND filters. I use ND Filters when doing outdoor flash portraiture.

According to the review by NFG, he said that the hood was a poor design and that it keeps falling off at the lightest touch. I'm feeling queasy at just the thought - Tokina Lenses have an amazing build quality in their design - how could they just overlook this lens cap issue.

maybe you're right... i'll do just that then. For 849.99 and a tokina name, i'm expecting the lens to be stupid sharp, have a great color rendition, and have low amount of distortion.

At the expense of high CA,

Tokina CA can be fixed relatively easily. Flare on the otherhand...

Tokina lenses are still top notch.

True, CA can be fixed but it would be better that it is not there to start with.

Flare, on the other hand, can make the lens a no go. I shoot into stage lighting all the time. A lens's ability to resist flare is very important, to me. This flare is very easy to spot in the viewfinder and just washes over the entire image. Talk about no contrast and severe color shifts
