I am a little bit curious about those that want to have one of fancy lights blinking, things rolling about in your sig. Other than show casing (which is important to some) your skills in developing these, what does it accomplish. I know that most people here operate on high speed internet connections and the loading time is insignificant. For those in rural areas, this is not even available to them and then it is a loading issue. My sister lives on a farm and worked on dial up for many years. They recently went to the so called satellite high speed that a few companies are pitching. It is better than dial up but far from high speed.

Many years ago on a differen forum that allowed images in signatures I wrote a small phpo script that I imbedded in my signature. This script took 4 random thumbnail images from my photo library and output them as an image in the signature. Then I had an url to my forum around that image. I would not do something like that today and don't like to see that kind of thing here. It can be abused in various ways.

Sheldon, I think most of the people above are joking about the animated graphics. At least I was.

But to further that point, a text link consisting of a good keyword anchor and a link would be more advantageous (SEO) than a graphic anyway.

I belong to a car forum that allows photos in the sig, and it's silly to see the same photo over and over again. In threads where one member posts repeatedly, the same photo might appear dozens of times, and that's a distraction and waste of real estate.

Just like your obnoxious avatar, right Tom? :D ;)
