Just experimenting in the pub the other night. Not sure what I was aiming for but I kinda like them.

Let me know what you think. Please blaze them with brutal honesty:rolleyes:

Fun at the bar pics. What did they say when you were flashing away? So many questions:
Where's the women? Can't see any in the bar...
Whats Chinese beer like?
...and it looks like the smokes burn. LOL. I heard smoking is still huge in Asia.

Well first both the guys in the shots I know and are also photographers so don't mind!

For women, some nights there are lots of women, others not so many. This is more of an 'English' pub and for some reason the girsl, both local and foreign tend to head to the discos more. This was a Wednesday night for me with work the next day so opted to just stick to the pub.

But, below is a woman, but she works there! And also an attempt at the bar. I'll be back tonight so will try again.

As for the beer, I was drinking Carlsberg! Chinese beer is a little watery and gives wicked hangovers as it is made from rice and not wheat. They have tons and tons of different ones and some can be wuite nice. It is dead cheap too if you buy it from a shop - the cheapest being 3rmb for 660ml. Thats around 20p or 37cents.

And the cigs, the ones he was smoking were a foreign brand as the cheap cigs they have here can kill with one puff! But again dirt cheap and a huge variety to cater for the millions who smoke! His were burning for my photo.

From the results I can see its a bit of challenge to get right. I can the english words on a sign, sort of an ex-pat bar for the homesick maybe. Having some fun all 'round. Good looking bar.

Cheers!

The show the rugby and serve cold beer. Can't be bad. Saying that, a tri nations game on in a couple of hours. There are a few bars like it offering different things from sports to jazz.

I like the first and last. Try using a prime, or set the camera to iso 3200 and do not flash (or just a tiny fill). Might work a lot better for the atmosphere. Thats why #3 and 5 don't work for me: Waaay to flashy

Thanks for the comments, the first one is my favourite too. I'd love to use a prime, the 50mm 1.4 is the next lens I'll be buying but will have to wait a few months before I have the funds available. Tripod has priority first!

Thanks for the message ... yes, love to see images from China. I like the last two better and the last one is awesome! I guess I'm not as interested in young guys smoking! :-)

Cheers for the comments. I shoot in that bar all the time so will post some more when I get a few better shots. And on a night with a few more women!!

At the moment I sometimes like the flash look, but agree some of them are over flashy. My mates lending me a 550 in a couple of days so will play about with that.

Here is one of two of my mates taken in a different bar. I like the look on their faces.

Hi there.

I like the first - and the last. The first caught my eye because i recently took a shot quite similar to this - would you mind if i posted it?

The rest dont do anything for me - perhaps its because they are quite flashy, or beacuse they seem to lack any sort of reason to them, snapshots if you like. #3 looks like you caught him half blinking and half blinded.

Keep going tho Ben - and keep posting :-)

Hey there Matt, Please do post yours, they would be great to see. The repsonses are so mixed here about the ones people like or not it is good and I love hearing different opinions.

I know some of the pics don't seem to have reason to them, but I suppose they do to me. Interesting point though as I do want others to see my perspective in what I take - and also their own of course - if both in the same pic is actually possible.

I must say that #3 is the guys actual normal look - hard to believe!

How do I go about adding numbers and putting more than one photo in a post?
