Knot Grass moth caterpillar, in close

Here's a striking caterpillar I found in the garden this weekend. It's easily identified as a Knot Grass, Acronicta rumicis, though the adult moth looks like many of the other Noctuids.

1. First to show what we're looking at, taken with the 100mm macro. All shots are lit by a diffused 430EXII on a bracket.

4. All the way in to the clumps of white hairs between the thorns.
