This is somewhat in referance to the 5D, but applys to the 1D 2 and 1Ds2.

What are the differant focus screens, what are there benefits?

any Viewfinder pics that SHOW the differance (I'm a Visual person, thats why I take pictures)

Hmm, Stunned and Amazed.

Amazing ... what the 'search' function sometimes brings up
Split image focusing Screen for 10D 20D 300D 350D are availabe!

Might have seen it in views through camera viewfinders in oooold movies (like the 70's of the last century  )
It allows you to focus more precisely because the ground glass in the middle will only show perfect alignment of lines if the picture is correctly focused.

Best regards,
Andy

some cameras, some lenses,
and still a lot of things to learn...

Click the link
It's all there, Haoda sells them via eBay. (OK, it's a long link. But worth the read.)
I'm also thinking of getting one.

Andy

This is a nice reminder. I remember these being discussed before and had meant to look 'em up again. I am think I should go that route if I use MF with my TCon's. You don't really get a second chance and trusting my eyes and the tiny VF doesn't give confidence. Bit of a rip off arguably but I guess if they do the job well then the results are worth the cash. 1000 OOF shots are worthless!!!!

I think it's less of a ripoff than other comparable offers.
Small scale productions tend to have their price.

Haha, and the largest ripoff definitely is the Canon one ... costs about $ 4,000 (with the 1DII).
Although they definitely could offer a replacement one for the 20D.

Best regards,
Andy

I think I paid about $75 for a split focusing screen for my EOS 630 back in 1991. So this deal doesn't sound so bad.

Thats not at all what I was referring too. The 1 series and the 5D say they have interchangeable focus screens, the white paper for the 5D says it comes with 3, which are the same as the 1 series, I want to know what they are, and what they do. I know all about the Hoada screen.

Thanks,

-Johnny

look here

http://www.bhphotovideo.com …x=17&Submit.y=5&Submit=Go (external link)

I will guess that it comes with screen Ec-A, Ec-B, and Ec-C, but there are 6 more available.

The Canon site says this about the 1DsMkII

Focusing Screen

Interchangeable (9 types), Standard focusing screen: Ec-CIII

Sorry, misunderstood your post.
But the link to B+H should answer your question (I was deciding between the Haoda thread and this link as alternative post  )
