3200 rockets launching simultaneously - The Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts of America did this on Saturday outside of College Station, TX. You can see it all over Youtube (look for SHAC JAM Rocket Launch). A new Guiness World Record.

Shot at 6.5 fps

Thanks everyone. It was certainly as cool as it looks, even though it was over so quickly after untold hours of prep by a LOT of Scouts and Adult Leaders. There were a lot of cameras there, as you can imagine, but I did a search and did not find any other shots posted on POTN.

Be sure to check out the shots I posted on Smugmug of the aftermath, including rolling smoke cloud and grass fires.

Great series. I'm wondering just how far they wandered from the launch site as well as how long the clean up took.

Thanks. There was a good breeze, as evidenced by how quickly the smoke cloud rolled over me - but the rockets did not wander more than about 150 yards, because they did not get packed with parachutes - just the streamers.

Excluding the recovery time for the scorched grass, it probably took about 2 hours to clean up - lots of eager kids to run around and collect the debris :)

That must have been quite a sight and sound in person, thanks for sharing, and what a challenging set of photographs.
