Hi,
I have been busy with university for the past month or so, so I did not come to the forums. Anyway, it was clear for the past few days here, so I managed to go out of town and take the camera to take some photos. Since it was very cold and the one driving was feeling cold, I did not have much time to take photos. I could just about make out Andromeda galaxy
which is the very first time I have seen it. I aimed the camera towards there, but to make sure that I got it, I decided to have it on 18mm. Unfortunately, the tripod at full height is just not quite tall enough and having to bend down trying to see the image is very difficult. I used 800 ISO, as it's a 350D, I was not sure how well it would cope at 1600 (maximum). I took it at 20 seconds and also had the lens at f/6.4, because I was told earlier, it would reduce the elongation of stars around the edge (kit lens).
Anyway, after stacking the 7 photos, I did mention that it was cold, I saved it as both files, embedded and applied in DSS. I loaded it up at uni in Photoshop and spent hours trying to do something decent and then gave up. When I loaded it in Iris, the embedded photo looked pretty decent. See attached. When I try to export it, then the png is just a dark mess, while the jpg is almost invisible. Is there a better way to export the images? I tried bmp, but it just crashed. I have attached the jpg at roughly the same place in the Iris screenshot as well.
On a different note, do you think I could get more detail out of the photo?
Thanks
