Would you worry about a couple of hot pixels that show up in images (ie sensor not lcd)? I have done some reading and it appears Canon could 'map out' the offending pixels. Has anyone had this done and is there any danger of the camera coming back worse? If not I would prefer this option to trying to get a replacement from the retailer that might have the same problem.
They show up in RAW and jpeg though the white spot seems to fadea bit in DPP after a few secs of viewing whereas the blue one does not - turns white though, smaller spot just below rim of helmet:
ISO 100 1sec

It wouldn't over bother me but I have to think about future resale issues.

My G12 does NOT have those. I say return it, unless you got it from Hong Kong or something like that.

Toby, I had exactly the same problem and dilemma when I had my first G11. In the end it was an issue on a new camera and I decided that it had to go back. While I bought mine from a seller on Amazon, I contacted them and attached a couple of examples and it was exchanged without any problem, even though it was a parallel “grey” import – once you know it is there, you will see it in every photo - send it back!!!

okay, bought from reputable UK shop albeit online so should not be a problem. It looks like it may only be a problem with longer exposures, not seeing in shots taken today by daylight or flash.

mmmh, now it appears that if I wait long enough in DPP both hot pixels magically disappear - Canon must have included some sort of mapping programme in the latest DPP or the G12?
Not going to worry for now as it only occurs in longer exposures anyway. If i'm passing Elstree some time I might hand it in (keep a screen saver in the car).
