strange berry ID HELP?

So i was doing a little trail walking today outside of Knoxville, TN. and found these strange kidney shaped berry's coming out of star shaped pods. I have never seen these before or know if they are even berry's, i know they are not edible. Or at least i wouldn't try without a proper id. They were on a small plant around 3-4 feet tall, leaf pictures below.

They are edible, but only if you want to have a bad time ;) They are poisonous and can cause vomiting and diarrhea. If you eat alot of them the can cause seizure or coma.
