Is it normal for the 17-55 IS to have some CA / purple fringing?

I never noticed it before until recently. For example the subject was wearing black pants with white stripes. I noticed CA / purple fringing on the white parts. I was shooting under extremely harsh sunlight, f5.6, and 55mm. So I don't know if the CA / purple fringing is normal for this lens under those conditions. I can't post the pics yet because I'm on my laptop.

edit: wrong from, please move to the lens forum:oops:

Yes, the conditions you described would most likely cause CA/purple fringing with the 17-55, even at f/5.6. Hopefully, it's not severe enough where you aren't able to correct it in post. Also, assuming the subject was in focus, the fringing should be minimal. CA/PF seem more pronounced in slightly OOF areas of high contrast.

Yes DPP was able to make it go away automatically. I noticed the CA/PF for a few seconds before DPP automatically applied the lens corrections. I was just a little concerned because I thought my lens was defective.
