I notice that in the transportation section ppl will post up threads, and about 200 ppl will view them. But only 2 people will reply with comments.

I mean wtf is the point of a forum if you aren't active and post?

I'm not saying I'm good because I'm not it just seems people just never want to post here. And it's not just my threads it everyones...

I am new here so is there something I don't know about? I've been on several other forums, with less members and they are more active than this.

I'm not trying to argue or start a fight I just find it frustrating sometimes is all...

You're right, & it's always been like that. Maybe "forums, with less members" are more like a local club where everyone knows everyone else?

Shh you're disturbing the peace!

JK I feel like that too. I have to admit, I don't post a lot, but also, A lot of these threads are about aircraft which I don't know very much about(or care for so much). I guess also, when you don't get those 'instant' replies(within a couple mins-hours) sometimes people forget about their posts and don't come back to finish the conversation. Like zoning out when someone is talking to you :P.

I posted a thread a couple days ago and it took a whole day for a response. I do think that is a long time. 1post:60 Views

Do you mean here in the "Transportation Talk" section or over in the Transportation photo sharing board?

We all have specialized interests when it comes to the kind of photos we like or shoot. Myself, my transportation interests run to aircraft, trains and ships, especially older ones. I don't like the current styles of car photography (or the cars themselves) and the Transportation board is 90% that kind of image.

Just to give an example: Of all the threads on the first page of this board (not counting the stickies), there are 17 threads dealing with cars, nine aviation threads and one train thread...

It is very easy to take a mediocre picture of something transportation oriented. average, run-of-the-mill pictures aren't worth the effort to comment.:p

Its a common thing all across the internet on various forums. The average response to view ratio is generally in the 1:10 vicinity...i.e, one response for every 10 views.

Its a generalization but its usually pretty accurate.

For pictures: if the images are competent and not spectacular, there will be few responses. Most responses to pictures on this forum deal with the circumstances of the pictures and not about the pictures themselves. The rest of the comments usually are about perceived technical shortcomings.

For technical questions: many of this forum's users don't have the experience to figure out those situations, so they don't offer answers. The rise of the affordable DSLR in the last few years has generated more users of these cameras, and it seems that the new users outnumber those who may have come up from the now-obsolete film generation.

I don't comment on most aviation images (and it's something I know quite a bit about) because in most cases I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said already. And there are a lot better aviation photographers than me on here...

the new thread frequency here means that a thread will usually only remain on the main page for abotu 6 hours. Me personally, I do not typically look beyond one or two pages and if the thread doesn't interest me then I move on. If many people are like me then once the thread is off the first page = out of sight, out of mind.

People can view without logging in (members & non-members) but cannot comment. This will drive up views but will not help with comments.

You think This is bad...check out Glamor & Nude for crazy view/comment ration.

Anytime I see "slammed," "chopped," "banging," "low" or any other auto-buzz words, I'll generally just pass because I can pretty much be sure it's just another collection of poorly lit, under-exposed shots from the bowels of some obscure parking garage.

The use of adult English in titles has a much better chance of catching my attention.

It has alot to do with skill level, and reputation. If people know who you are and you can produce good work people will hug your nuts. It's just like highschool without the formalities and football team.

How does one apply to have ones nuts....hugged.
