Freaky Bug

We have these Assassin Bugs all over here in south Texas. The wife calls them freaky bugs because of their color.

I must say, this is my first macro shot and it's harder than I thought it was. It was taken with my Tamron 28-75. Maybe I should invest in a macro lens if I plan to do this type of shooting more often.

Not to bad of a shot here a little more DOF would have been nice, Also I think this is bette known as a leaf footed beetle or bug, not an assassin bug, this one most likely makes it's living from sucking juices out of plants.

You're absolutely right. It's a Acanthocephala Terminalis. They're distinctive for their orange tipped antenna. Hmmm...learn something new every day.
