I am thinking of getting a DSLR again, and am not sure which camera to get. Hope to get some advice here.

The first option is a used XTi kit from Henry's complete with a 3 year warranty. This impressed me as they usually only provide a 90 day warranty on their used cameras.

The second option is a new XS kit through eBay. No mention of extended warranty or anything like that.

Both kits come with the 18-55 IS kit lens.

I like the XS option because it is new, uses SD/SDHC cards and has the DIGIC III processor. Liveview doesn't mean anything to me, so that isn't a consideration.

I like the XTi because I had one before and really liked it. It also has the 3 year extended warranty and including the cost of the warranty, is well over $100 cheaper than the XS.

Also, Henry's is a known vendor where the other eBay seller is totally unknown. The eBay seller has over 200 positive feedback and no negative, but is still an known. He also doesn't accept returns.

Money is definitely a concern for me and I am just a hobbyist. I am really leaning towards the XTi, but am interested in your opinions and views.

Thanks...
Al

It sound like the XTi is a better deal overall especially as $$ is a concern.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

But the XS has better ISO performance. Now if you only shoot at ISO400 or below you may not notice much of a difference.

Hey everyone.

Thank you for all your advice. I ended up finding a used XSi package for a pretty decent price after taxes and shipping. Hope to get it either this week, or most likely, next week. Comes with the 18-55mm IS kit lens and some other stuff.

Hope to be shooting pretty soon.

Al
