Ok, so maybe there is no sail and no gull but they were close... kind of like the shots :) I was mainly trying pp on these to enhance them but not sure that worked out.

Need more depth of field on the sailboat. Too much is out of focus. I couldn't figure out what looks like two cherubim horns sticking off to the sides just in front of the bimini. On closer examination, it looks like the base of the bimini was unfortunately aligned with two dorade vents. If this part was in focus it might have avoided the confusion.

The gull is actually an egret. It's better to have it walking into the image than out of it.

+1 for DOF on the sailboat, although the framing is spot on

The gull would fit better with a bit of space on the right, but the colours work well, and the 'keep off' adds a bit of humour to the scene, i like it

Ya, both shots were botched but I thought maybe with some creative pp and cropping I could overcome some of the technical problems :) I went abit overboard with my new sigma 30 and f/1.4 and was pretty upset when I got home and saw the potential for the shots and what I had to work with -- next time :)

Good stuff, didn't know the first image was a crop, imho you should take the frame in a bit at the left, so that the bird isn't bang in the middle of shot, matter of personal opinion tho...

Hope you dont mind, but heres how i would have framed it, take out the horison and the wood behind the bird, which were distractions. B&W is just farting about, works better in colour

Nice edit... it would have been nice if I got bird at a different angle and the end of the peer in the same shot but was shooting with a 30mm lens and had to get pretty close... which of course made the bird fly away :) I won't be traveling with just a 30mm prime again.
