Why does EVERY car have them? Usually (not for formula D) ive seen just like one camera per class or something (motocross and things like that). Do the teams use it to perfect their drivers abilities? flickr

Use them for videos and also to enhance their skills. See what they did wrong at times or to see whats differant from the other day. Or if they did a good run, how to mimic it. They retail for $299 and have a 128/170° wide angle lens on em and can record HD at 60fps. So its not hard for a team to justify picking one(or 6) up. They also come with all sorts of mounts for motor sports, or really any action sport you can think of. I got one and love the lil sucker. 50D / 17-55mm 2.8/ 50mm 1.8/ 28-80mm 3.5-5.6 / 75-300mm 4-5.6 / 500mm f8 mirror reflex / Bower flash

Then Falken has several cameras they use for their own video production, and other teams and sponsors will add cameras for their own video work. Sucks because it crowds up the cars, but nobody wants to share footage. ~ Canon 7d / 5D ~ Novatron strobe setup + Vagabond
