Not a new trend. Lightpainting has been around for decades. As for who's good at it? Try Supra_T and Cory Varcoe. They both create some stunning results out of this technique.

Trends don't last .. Techniques do.

Angus is correct. Lightpainting has been around a very long time.

I'm missing something- what this technique "light painting" I'm looking for? I see a nice pic of a car, but what's this "light painting"?

I'm thinking the same thing...

It's a very nice, well exposed image of a parked car and its surroundings.

i think lightpainting the OP was posting about is taking picture of an object with a single flash moving around during a long exposure.

i suppose that's just one type of lightpainting.. the more famous ones would be the squiggly lines made with small light source in -again- long exposure time

- i like taking pictures but not showing it to anyone - go figure :)

A new trend implies something original which is just catching on. Lightpainting is not a 'new' trend because it's been done for ages, perhaps some people just haven't noticed.

Back on topic, what you have done up top is moving the flash around, aye? I don't know if I would necessarily consider that lightpainting. For me, light painting is generally done with a constant light source. Just my way of thinking but, not necessarily right by any means. Your original question, though, was who around here is good at it - I told you Supra_t and Cory. Did you look them up? Did that answer your question?

Kinda hard to notice much at all in an image that's only 640X...
