Not sure if I like the tone you 're talking in Agnu.

Haha, really? If you can detect tones in voices over the internet, i'm impressed! Seriously though, you asked a question and I answered it. You still haven't answered mine...

I like it!

It's good because I can't tell that you painted it with light, usually the tell tale hot spots or streaks, but very very balanced image. Nice work!

Its becoming increasingly common for automotive photographers here, not so much in the magazine and media side. but the private sector.

There is a photographer who i think may be on here who does it and hes awesome.

yeah its a nice shot, but theres no trend. same as "strobist" isnt a trend. people strobe and light paint all the time and have been for years, trends come anfd go.
The majority of my light painting is not for cars though, its for a dark abandonment where i actually use a flashlight as a paint roller / brush to capture each area.

Not a big fan of light painting due to it's high inconsistency.

That's why you use a flash and control exposures independently and consistently ;)

Awesome shot! I might try my hand in this. Cheaper than using a ton of lights all at once.

I do a bit not a great deal, both these images are light painted and not a composite of multiple images

And that shot I didn't use a flash. Light painting is not done with flashes. I used a flourescant trouble light and stacked my images. If you would look closely you'd notice no hotspots that are usually caused by flash.

Is this a custom made flourescant light or can be bought somewhere?

I remember having a light painting assignment when I was in photo school in 1970, I used my Hasseblad as the subject against a white background. It's a very effective technique for a certin look or when circumstances don't offer other answers. I used it with tabletop but it also works well with night time architectural exteriors.

Trouble lights are usually lights use for lighting small spaces. Under cars, etc. They are more rugged. Harbor Freight and such places would have them. Some are LED now. Florescent ones can be found.
