What's new in DPP++ Plugin 4.0
  • Now it is possible to display an __**RGB Histogram inside the RAW tab**__. This allows to avoid switching continuously between the RAW tab and the RGB tab just to look at the RGB histogram. Note: The displayed RGB histogram is based on the part of the pic that is displayed at the screen. This has an advantage over the native RGB histogram of DPP because DPP displays an RGB histogram for all the pic no matter if you have define a crop area or not. With this new histogram you can see the histogram just for the crop area (or the area you have zoom in). At the opposite if you want a very precise histogram you have to calibrate your screen.
  • Added 1 checkbox to display/hide the new RGB histogram
  • Added 3 chekboxes R, G and B allow to choose which channels to display in the new histogram
  • Added 2 buttons O and U allow to display Overexposure / Underexposure alerts
  • When you click on one of the 5 recipe buttons to apply a previously saved recipe, you can now use either the mouse wheel or the __keyboard (arrow keys)__ to switch between the different saved recipies. This allow a better comparison between saved recipies because you can keep your eyes on the image while changing recipe.
  • Size of recipe buttons has been reduced to save space in the user interface.
  • Load camera settings button has been removed to save space in the user interface.
  • The program menu can be accessed by cliking on the program tray icon either with the left or right mouse button.
  • This new feature works only under DPP 3.9. To make the histogram appear, put the tool palette in docking mode and go to the edit image window. You must have a screen with a vertical resolution >=810.

What is DPP++ Plugin ?

DPP++ is a plugin-like program for the Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software . It enhances the original Canon software by adding some useful functions. DPP++ offers 5 new functions :

  1. A tool similar to the measure tool of photoshop, which allows to correct the angle of a pic by drawing a line on the horizon or on a wall in the pic.
  2. The possibility to save the custom aspect ratios defined with the trim tool. The new aspect ratios can be saved automatically and retrieved automatically.
  3. The display of composition lines in the trim tool : Gold lines / Rule of Third lines / Diagonals.
  4. The possibility to save and reload recipes in just 1 clic. This allow to compare different raw conversions instantly and to apply a recipe to an image in just 1 clic (no need to copy paste or to save into a file anymore).
  5. he possibility to display an RGB Histogram inside the RAW tab. This allows to avoid switching continuously between the RAW tab and the RGB tab just to look at the RGB histogram.
The program is completely integrated with DPP Interface.

The program works only under Windows systems (sorry for Mac users).

Are the under / overexposure warnings "sticky" or on a "per image" basis (like in 'the original' DPP)?

Pity it's PC only ;)

Actually it calls the Highlight/Shadow alerts of DPP.

On the PC, the warnings (as well as focus points) in the regular DPP remain set for all images, until disabled.

yb98,

I would rather keep the load camera settings button and reduce the number of different working settings to 4 to save space in the user interface.

Just my opinion, as my monitor does not comply anyway.

Now DPP++ starts to be useful. To bad my screen is 1024 pixels high.

Sorry I have made a mistake. The size in height of the DPP's window must be >=895.
You can ever display the histogram with a height of 810 but in this case you have to hide the DPP's toolbar.
Good news for you !
