Show us your best with a **G12**

Can anyone please confirm if your Canon speedlite can use ETTL mode when your G12 is set to Manual Photo mode?

I have read that when the G series is in Manual mode - the flash (ext. Speedlite) is also in Manual mode and cannot be in ETTL.

It appears to be the same answer that you asked per the G1 X and flash. Here's information from the G12 user guide. You can see that footnote #1 at the top of page 187 says ETTL may be displayed, but it will be "Fixed to [Manual]". Whatever is set on the camera is what the flash will do. It's the same on my G11.

The same? Do I misunderstand the 1st and 2nd note of the G1 X that they do shoot ETTL when the Camera is in Manual shooting mode?

2nd G1 X note states: "In M shooting mode - ETTL mode is also available...."

One of my first shots was a real world test of the resolution and color the G12 would put out. Photo is handheld and taken at the Staples store.
This is a big Flickr file, so can't put the actual photo here.
Auto mode, 1/60, f2.8, ISO 400 full wide(6.1mm) .jpg format..

I gotta tell ya folks! I got my G12 and a Nikon D7000 at the same time, and I love this little Canon. I had reservations at first about keeping it, but everyday, I am more glad that I did! This camera is perfect for when I can't take a big camera bag! I do not feel like I am leaving anything behind when I pick the G12 up! So impressed...

Have been in South America for the past 5 weeks, and the G12 has been the perfect travel companion. Perfect size, perfect weight -- I've gotten shots I never would have gotten had I had my 5D with me. It even goes out with me at night in my tiny purse! Love it. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Like this a lot - interesting contrast between the unkempt ground and the lovely wood-work & flower arrangement

I have to admit I'm quite surprised there is not a lot more G12 action on this forum - I would figure photo posting (and chat) would be 4x as much as I've seen... just a bit odd, I'd think there were more G12's out there or something...
