I used Photoshop Elements 10 - Depth of Field Guided Edit - I was too lazy to do it using a Layer Mask - but I should have because I see the guided Edit changed the exposure of the vehicle.

My aperture for the shot was f/3.5 so I'm surprised there was not already background blur - I guess I should have been back further from it - and used more zoom - which seems to be a typical trick to get background blur (bokeh)

My one complaint with the G series is they dropped the 2.0. That produced great bokeh. If I knew how to get DPP & PSE 10 to read the CR files I would be tempted to pull my G3 or G6 out of storage & use them except for photos I know I want >8X10 (but you never know that until it says ME :(). Why Canon dropped the 2.0 I will never know. I like the PSE10 Guided DoF. Nice car.

a possible way is if CHDK is available for the G6 - then you can create a DNG - and there is a good chance PSE10 can import it. Certainly Lightroom can, but also free editors out there - then convert to Tiff - and then use any editor...

Abobe DNG converter will handle the G series RAW files from the G1 through the latest G1 X. I know PSE 10 will open the DNG created files, as will Lightroom.

I have never tried using CHDK. I guess I should bite the bullet & try it on my G12. It seems to offer some very useful tools. Just not sure of myself, computers, & modifying the card. What happens when I format the card? Do I have to re-install CHDK? Thanks tho!

Thank you! I will find it via Google. :)

I installed the Adobe DNG converter but it will not show any RAW files. When I "Select Folder" the RAW files are not visible. I know they are the as I put them in the folder! Any clue what I may be doing wrong?

Not sure what your issues are, but perhaps this technical paper may provide some help? It is a bit dated, but still describes use of DNG converter.

Hi Gil,

Sorry to be off topic a bit but CHDK is worth it IMO!

Formatting the card should not effect CHKD as it's on a different partition in the card but I haven't checked it, will do so.

I was writing a reply then decided to start a new proper thread about my way of installing CHDK so more people can see it:
