I was hoping to get some input on these pictures I took of my daughter in the backyard the yesterday.

No reflectors, or flash was used in the making of these just pure natural light. I'm using a new monitor also that is uncalibrated and not sure how good the settings are on it. It was fairly overcast though with the sun peeking out here and there. these shots were all shot in the shade as well except for the one with that has some flare to it.

I'll take any advice you have to give or any edits you want to make to the pictures, plus I posted some of my own specific questions next to the pictures as well.

you can view full sizes for the full set here

1) Almost think I went a little soft on her face and not sure if I should of lit the background up a little more.

2) Had a little flare and not so sure it looks all that great with the flare. but I would easily take some input on corrections that I could of made.

3) Not sure on this one what edits I could of made other then not chopping her fingers, hands off. Tried to make it into more of a headshot and didn't care for it with the cropping.

4) Should I of lit the background and the leaves on the left a little more? Also are the blacks a little too dark, and did I make it too warm?

5) More of the same as #4

These are adorable! I love the colors, the framing, and how you made her eyes pop, she has quite the expressions!

The only comment I would make is to adjust the white balance on #2, it's quite warm and yellowish. If you shot in RAW, it should be easily correctable and give nice results.

Love these shots, you have such a cute daughter and she is very expressive which is great! The colours and framing are both great, and are well exposed. I like the flare personally, but others may not. I'd possibly apply some split toning to this shot to make the odd colouring of the flare slightly more deliberate but that's a matter for personal taste.

My only negative comment is that the colour balance is not consistent between the shots (all of them are slightly different) which you should be able to achieve even with an uncalibrated monitor.

#2 needs work with the flare and color balance.
The others look good but MAYBE slightly over saturated?

Used the 70-200 mkii for all but the one with the flair was shot with the 17-55 but that one has a heavy crop as well.

Thank you all for your feed back
