I borrowed my a sony a390 for this engagement shoot. I have always shot with my S5 in the past.

Please let me know what you think of these. I had not ever shot with an SLR until the week before these were taken. This is my nephew and his fiance. Hit me with everything you can think of... good and bad...I can take it! They have asked me to shoot their wedding (very small immediate family, probably outdoors) so if I accept I want to know all I can.

They are pretty good. The only things I can add would be to watch the center weighted compositions. Your subjects for the most part are right in the middle of the photo. Shooting them a little to left or right makes the image more dramatic and is more pleasing to the eye.
I noticed you are shooting on auto mode, with your white balance set to auto. It is important to set your white balance yourself before a shoot. Dont trust the camera to make these decisions. Also start experimenting with different modes. Shutter or aperture priority. Full manuel will come later, but dont leave all the important choices to the camera.

Thanks...I was unhappy with some of the shots because of that.

I was shooting with the camera in portrait mode. I wish I would have shot in aperture mode though, at least for some of the shots. When I shoot with my camera I shoot full manual or shutter speed but I was just concerned with getting these in focus since I had never shot with this camera before. I will try different settings next time!

next time, don't tell me you used a sony camera.

other than that, good set, composition could use work as mentioned earlier but pretty good.

couple seems pretty relaxed, good job!

They are good, especially for your first time with an SLR. The compositions are OK but nothing exciting. The colors are good but they don't seem consistent - white balance? Some seem warmer than others.

I like the B&W conversion but the crop needs to be adjusted to above her waist or just below his left hand on her waist.

:lol::lol::lol:

i really liked the shots. nothing out of focus, good emotions throughout, nice comp. it was mentioned before, but just watch out for chopped limbs. i find myself doing that all the time unconsciously.
