If you have no green screen you can use any colour you like but not one that is anywhere in your shot.

Unfortunately when you post such little information, people will tend to jump on it.

Can you tell us what kind of shoot, location, time of day, lighting rig (if any), subject etc? It helps folk advise properly (and keeps the jokers away)

Have you done it inside? If so, do the same outside.

I've done green screen in the studio, but I'd imagine outside you'd have to deal with the background flapping around in the wind, changes in lighting (clouds etc) that might make the bg harder to remove later. If you are doing this because you want to cut out the subject and insert another background later, perhaps there are other ways of achieving this?

I have tried inside and out with out much success with people as the subject.
the problems I had were.
even lighting
background not smooth
and not having enough distance from subject from background

At the time I did not have strobes and by the time I got proper lighting I had lost interest in the project.
At the time the subject was my daughter and she has frizzy hair and I decided that even if I got it all correct her hair would never come out right.

Thanks everone I tend to get upset seems like over things that are my fault so I will try again. I would really like to be able to take photos of cars ,motorcycles and put them in A different setting and the green screen seemed to me would work. I am new at all of this so please bear with me. Thanks Bill Goodwin

Being new and telling this forum has A==Holes isn't the best way to make friends. Neither your title or your first post contained any useful information to give you some advice. No need to say those who replied are A==Holes.

Now that we have some more info, I can help. I'd suggest you take the cars/motorcycle you want to shoot in a garage. That way you'll control the lightning to your taste. Working with a green screen outside is way harder than doing it inside. I'd start inside than make my way outside when I feel my results are satisfying and the garage is limiting my photography.

Thanks for the reply Rivest and maby you are right although had I read the question I do believe I would have been smart enough to understand what was asked for.

Probably because you knew what you were looking for. The more precise you will be in your questions, the more accurate answer you'll get.

Have you looked into a large collapsible chroma background? Maybe some chromakey paint and wall boards; it would be a pain to lug large boards around though. . . Lastolite makes some larger collapsible chromakey backgrounds that work like the collapsible reflectors/diffusers.
You could always set the background up against the wall.
You could also look into Onone's Mask Pro 4 software. It will add time to your post processing but will allow you to extract the subject cleanly.

Thereee we go. The only way that I could see you doing something so large is by using a frame of some sort and hoping that there is little to no wind. You could set up behind some natural wind breaks like trees or behind a wall and such, but it will still be your biggest enemy with what is essentially going to be a green sail. Normally to combat this you could place holes for the wind to travel through but they would have to be placed rather strategically so they are out of frame.

Is there a particular reason you want to do it outside as opposed to inside?
