I graduated from a Sony DSC-R1 to a Canon T2i a few months ago. I love this shot - my daughter at 2 and a half. But, I would love to know how I can make it better in the eyes of the vets (or anyone :) )on this site. Your thoughts?

ok first let me say WOW, HOW CUTE!

you did great here my only concern is that you chopped her arm off lol and her finger tips, watch out for compositional errors like that. Other than that you nailed this image man great job. I love the color tones and the bokeh...did you use your 50mm?

In saying all that, dress her up and go take some professional pics!

Yup, it was the 50. The EXIF below. In hindsight I should have increased the aperture a bit since I was using a bounced flash, but the bokeh looks nice. I can live with her back arm slightly out of focus.

I do agree with the clipped fingers. Was was on the stairs and took this picture as she was putting on some boots. I couldn't move further back. So that was a bummer.

Thanks!

ISO: 400

as long as those eyes are in focus that is all you need to worry about. I am very surprised that you got that clarity @ 1.8 I guess the 50 1.4 really is sharper than the 1.8

She is a cutie - and looks to have an attitude. Excellent capture, good light. The cropping is an issue but the rest is really a good shot.

You can trust me on this - the 50/1.4 is NOT the same lens as the 50/1.8. And the difference isn't just the cost.;)

Its odd, but to me the f1.4 is worth 4 times the cost of the f1.8, but I am not convinced yet that the f1.2 is worth 4 times the cost of the f1.4. Than again, once you hit the $1,000 mark, then you mind starts making excuses - especially for a hobbyist. :D

Thanks guys.
